MARY BARTON or MARY PORTER
There seems to be confusion about these two women. Some people think their the same person and others disagree that they are two different wives of Elijah LATHROP (1775-1871). There is a Mary LATHROP buried at Forest Hill Cemetery in the LATHROP area. Is it the grave of one of the above or neither? Elijah LATHROP's brother George's wife was named Mary.
At Ancestry.com the biography listing for Elijah LATHROP states:
"Born in Lebanon, New Hampshire, USA on 24 Feb 1775 to Elijah Lathrop and Elizabeth Elderkin. Elijah married Mary Porter and had 5 children. He passed away on 1871".
A marriage record for Elijah & Mary Porter has Mary named Polly.
NAME:
Elijah Lathrop

According to the book "History of Washtenaw County, Michigan and biographies of representative" it states that "Elijah Ltahrop (deceased) was born at Lebanon, Conn., Feb. 25,1776, and was married to Mary Barton Aug 26, 1809.
