Ann Arbor Home Guard - Ann Arbor Silver Greys

In May 1861 students at the University of Michigan formed a fourth Ann Arbor Home Guard unit named  the "Ann Arbor Silver Greys".

Most of men that joined were in their mid forties and older, including prominent businessmen. Some of these men were Horace Lathrop of Pittsfield Township, University President, Henry P. Tappan and local businessmen, Elijah Q. Morgan, Daniel E. Wines, and William S. Maynard .
