In 1858 Josephine Griffin was born in Kent, England, the daughter of Joseph Griffin and Eliza Davey. The family emigrated England to America about 1872. By 1880 her mother, father and sister made Duluth, Minnesota their home. Josephine made her way into the new world by leaving the nest as a single woman. In 1880 she was working in Portage, Houghton, Michigan as a waiter. Josephine married Guy Graham Henning (son of David Henning and Julia Lathrop). They lived most of their lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Josephine died in 1949.
